As a single mom of 2, I never imagined my life would turn out as well as it did. I began motherhood as a quiet but quirky teenager who had to grow up fast. 

Even with the odds stacked against me I knew being a young mom would not stop me from pursuing my dreams. 

Back then the goal was to be an actress but now, years later, the goal is to promote financial independence to single moms. 

In 2018, I decided to get my financial- ish together and buy a house as a single mom. I knew it would be tough because I knew nothing about money and had no one to teach me. 

And The Search Begins…..

I started to search everything about money and ways to make it grow. The information I found was great but no one was talking about how to manage money as a single parent.

I needed a money coach who understood single mom life. 

Someone who was not going to give me a pity party about being a single mom. 

Someone who could realistically teach me how to manage my money on one income.

There was no one.

All the advice I found was geared toward men and two-parent families. If by chance, I was able to find information about single moms and money it more than likely was an article about getting on public assistance. 

Though helpful, that is not the information I needed. I needed to learn about budgeting, saving, investing, and how to create generational wealth for my children. 

Out of frustration, I started to teach myself.

I got an entry-level job at a bank and started learning personal finance terminology. I moved from department to department soaking up all the information I could. Deposit accounts, loan accounts, credit cards, business banking, and even the escalation department. 

And when I felt like I was ready, I started to fix my credit and save money aggressively.  I even came up with my own little way to manage money as a single mom.

This little technique I used is what inspired me to share what I’ve been learning with you. 

Because, like me, I know there is a single mom out there who is searching for how to stop living paycheck to paycheck and get her money right once and for all.

Now….I don’t consider myself an expert, just a mom who is determined to change the narrative when it comes to single moms and our money.
